If you're a headbanger.. you know exactly what I am talking about: The Aftermath. Spending 4-10 hours (sometimes more) of headbanging is probably my top favorite things to do, but it's the after part that is so dreadful! when asked, "How do you overcome neck pain after headbanging?" just about every typical metal head answers with "Nothing" or something around that! But I decided to look a few things up and educate myself and share it with others who also want to enlighten themselves! After a show that night, if you are not too drunk or wore out to do so, you should start treating right away although the pain hasn't caught up yet. this would be stretching the neck and apply either heat or ice overnight. Heat helps bring nutrient- richen blood to the area to help flow and stimulate healing response. Ice packs will reduce the inflammatory of the area. The next day, it's recommended that you switch from hot to cold every thirty minutes. If you take over the counter medicines, make sure they are anti- inflammatory (Ibuprofen, advil, aleve ) . One individual told me they even put Vicks on it! And if you're a fangirl such as myself, peppermint tea will cure that voice you just lost. I also want to add, before a show, I always eat a banana to get potassium. this helps any body soreness. I also carry band aids and ibuprofen in my pockets because someone around me, or myself always gets hurt and ends up needing those two things! have anything to add? comment and STAY HEAVY! \M/ |
